Although Glendale is hosting the Fiesta Bowl New Year’s Day, traveling Ohio State University fans were invited to celebrate in Buckeye Wednesday.
The City of Buckeye worked with Glendale to bring out-of-state college football fans into the area, bringing tourist dollars to other cities in the West Valley.
Buckeye spokeswoman Jennifer Rogers said that while there aren’t many hotels to keep tourists in the city, she hopes events like this catch the attention of travelers for a more permanent revenue.
“We’re actually doing these kind of events because we’ve had people come in and they’re like this is the coolest place, we want to be a part of this," Rogers said. "And we’re hoping that they want to start businesses and open businesses and even move here."
