The majority of food and monetary donations to St. Mary’s Food Bank are taking place now, at the end of the year.
Jerry Brown with the food bank says 40-percent of their food donations for the year come in November and December. He says one resource it will be lacking going into 2016 is citrus because of a quarantine to prevent the Asian Citrus Psyllid.
"We know that we will have less citrus this year than we have in the past because of the quarantine. But, we hope that will be mitigated," he said.
Brown said those who want to donate citrus can contact St. Mary’s Food Bank and a representative will collect their fruit directly from the tree. They will start scheduling citrus picking in mid-January.
