A chart of fireworks that are/are not legal in Maricopa and Pima counties. Those in the yellow section are allowed on New Year's.

Last year a law was signed into effect that allows the sale and use of ground fireworks on New Year's Eve through to January 3, but that only applies to Maricopa and Pima counties.

If you’re looking to set off fireworks this New Year's Eve, depending on where you live you are legally allowed to use a certain type of firework. Those include sparklers, ground spinners and firework fountains.

Some municipalities, like Kingman and Lake Havasu City, still have a ban on any use of fireworks in city limits.

Bottle rockets and fireworks that shoot into the air are still illegal across the state, however penalties for using them are no longer a misdemeanor – they’re now a fine.
