Marching bands and large crowds will be converging on downtown and central Phoenix Saturday morning for the annual National Bank of Arizona Fiesta Bowl Parade. City and event officials estimate about 100,000 people will attend.
This is the 45 th year the parade has rolled down the streets of central phoenix. This year's theme is "Arizona’s Got Game."
Jennifer Jepson, a parade spokesperson, said Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson will be the Grand Marshall Saturday. She added spectators can also expect to see a variety of floats created by communities across Arizona.
"[Places like] Holbrook and Prescott came together and created floats that showcased the ways their community is 'on top of their game,'" she said.
The event will also cause some road closures in the area until about 4:00pm Saturday. Some key closures include Central Avenue from Maryland to Missouri Avenues; Bethany Home Road from Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue; Seventh Street from Camelback to Indian School Roads; and Camelback Road from Seventh Avenue to 16th Street.
