Raising chickens and selling produce from your yard will be getting easier for residents in Tucson this week.
In a unanimous vote in December, city council members approved several new rule changes for the sale and production of food on residential property.
Beginning January 8, Tucson residents will be able to legally sell the produce they grow in their yards.
The rules for keeping chicken coops have also been relaxed. In the past, coops had to be 50 feet from a neighbor’s property. Now, it’s just 20.
The changes also amended the classification of farmers markets and community gardens.
