Officials: Impact Of Wastewater On Lake Powell, Colorado River Unknown

About 3 million gallons of wastewater poured into the Animas River in August 2015 after a breach at a defunct gold mine near Silverton, Colorado. This was among the first stories tackling the issue as the contaminated water made its way toward Arizona.

Climate Change May Make Airplane Takeoffs More Difficult, Expensive

In January 2015, climate scientist Ethan Coffel released a report showing how the thinner air density of hotter days will disrupt the aviation industry. Hotter days at Sky Harbor and other airports may make takeoffs more difficult unless airports and airlines make some changes, which likely will come with costs.

NASA confirmed what many suspected at the end of September 2015; Mars does indeed have water flowing on its surface. At least — for part of the year. That news makes planetary scientists eager to learn more about Earth’s neighbor, the planet that may be the next place where humans venture.
