Friday marks the fifth anniversary of the Tucson shootings that killed six people and wounded 13, including former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
The shooting happened at a constituent event. The shooter, Jared Loughner, was sentenced to life in prison. As part of the anniversary coverage The Arizona Republic published a poemby Arizona’s Poet Laureate, Alberto Rios, about the five years since the shooting. The poem is titled "Five Years Later." Republic reporter Megan Finnerty commissioned the poem.
