Arizona Poet Laureate Pens Poem On 5th Anniversary Of Tucson Shootings

Friday marks the fifth anniversary of the Tucson shootings that killed six people and wounded 13, including former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

The shooting happened at a constituent event. The shooter, Jared Loughner, was sentenced to life in prison. As part of the anniversary coverage The Arizona Republic published a poemby Arizona’s Poet Laureate, Alberto Rios, about the five years since the shooting. The poem is titled "Five Years Later." Republic reporter Megan Finnerty commissioned the poem.
