A tourism survey conducted by Northern Arizona University found that visitors to the Verde Valley are older and wealthier.
According to the Verde Independent, the new survey sampled more than 2,700 people who visited the area.
Compared to a 2007 survey, the average per-party, per-day spending rose by more than $200, and the average age of visitors also increased nearly two years to about 54 in 2014.
The information could be used to shape travel experiences and visitor offerings.
