Over the past few decades, many of college football’s official or unofficial national championship contests have taken place in the Valley.
A lot of that credit is given to former Fiesta Bowl Chairman John Junker and the effort he put in to make the game especially attractive for schools, coaches and sponsors. But a scandal put Junker on the bench and even behind bars for a while.
