As the bus driver’s strike in Phoenix enters its seventh day, many city bus routes are still without service. That could result in thousands of dollars in fines for transit company Transdev.
The city’s contract with Transdev requires the company to maintain a 60 percent level of service on all impacted routes by the sixth day of a work stoppage. If that isn’t reached, Transdev could face $25,000 in fines each day service does not meet the requirement.
As of Thursday, the city reported 13 of the 34 impacted routes are in service at a Saturday level.
Negotiations between the Transdev and the transit union were ongoing Thursday.
