Arizona Lottery Director Resigns

Arizona’s Lottery Director Tony Bouie resigned Wednesday evening. His decision to step down comes in the wake of allegations that he violated state law.

“In discussing these recent issues with Director Bouie, the director and the administration agreed this would be a distraction," said Gov. Doug Ducey’s spokesman Daniel Scarpinato in an email.

That distraction likely stems from an anonymous letter received by the Phoenix New Timesaccusing Bouie of assigning himself a state vehicle and using it for personal reasons, a violation of state law.

In that same letter, Bouie was accused of bad management and cronyism.

The Arizona Attorney General’s office could not confirm or deny the existence of an investigation into those allegations at this point.
