City Considers Business Partnership To Improve South Tempe Golf Course

City leaders in Tempe are being asked to look beyond a deteriorating clubhouse and envision a new space for the community.

The Ken McDonald Clubhouse in south Tempe needs a pretty pricey face lift.

City staff estimate as much as half a million dollars is needed to address current deficiencies and future maintenance.

Rather than pour more money into the same pro shop and restaurant, city leaders are considering a broader vision which includes partnering with a private business to turn the area just off Rural Road, next to the Western Canal, into a showcase for weddings and business events.

During a recent work study session, council members took the first step towards reaching out the business community.
