ADOT Commits Nearly $50 Million For US 60 Upgrade

The Arizona Department of Transportation has committed nearly $50 million to upgrading US 60 between Globe and Superior. When the massive project is finished — expected in late 2017 — the drive from the Valley to Superior will be entirely on a four-lane, divided highway.

That means widening five miles of the U.S. 60 west of Globe and through Superior. Several projects are already underway, including adding a two-mile westbound passing lane, making drainage improvements west of Miami and improving a bridge at Waterfall Canyon.

Due to an unrelated project, ADOT will close U.S. 60 just east of Superior four times next week. Expect 90-minute closures starting at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
