A group of Valley couriers is suing Amazon, alleging they were misclassified as independent contractors—even though their clothing had Amazon Prime Now on it and they worked fixed hours from an Amazon warehouse.
Other recent suits involving strippers, among others, have also been filed because conflicts over the definition of employee versus independent contractor. Marianne Jennings, professor emeritus at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, spoke about the trend.
