Walmart plans to close more than 200 stores worldwide. But not in Arizona. In fact, we're getting more.
According to the company, a Tucson Neighborhood Market recently opened and a Supercenter is scheduled to open at Phoenix's Metrocenter Mall later this year.
The closures include 102 Express locations, Walmart's smallest stores which had been in pilot mode since 2011. According to the company's announcement, about 16,000 workers will be impacted worldwide, including around 10,000 in the United States.
Walmart says it hopes to place associates in positions at other locations.

During its next fiscal year, Walmart says it plans to open 50 to 60 Supercenters, 85 to 95 Neighborhood Markets and seven to 10 Sam's Clubs in the U.S. Internationally, the company plans to open between 200 and 240 stores.
