Crowds of Eagles fans are expected to attend a memorial service at “Standin' on the Corner Park” Tuesday evening in Winslow, Arizona. The event was scheduled by local officials after learning about the death of singer and Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey.
Bob Hall, with the Winslow Chamber of Commerce, said residents have had an appreciation for the artist after mention of the city made it into the song “Take It Easy” in 1977. That inclusion has since brought hundreds of tourists to Winslow on a daily basis and spurred economic growth in the area, he added.
"The people that stop here, they’re stopping because they’re fans of the Eagles," Hall said. "We get them from Denmark and Japan and China and England and Canada and all corners of the world."
Frey died Monday from complications of multiple health problems. He was 67.
