Google has an indoor slide. Facebook has a video game room. These are the kind of things we’ve come to expect in creative office spaces, but experts at the Urban Land Institute Arizona “Trends Day” conference Wednesday said this might not be what most companies want.
Another session at the conference focused on the people you might expect to see in a creative office - millennials. Jenny Poon founded the co-working space Co+Hoots in Phoenix, which employs a lot of millennials, and she said they really value flexibility.
The moderators said millennials also value purpose at work and instant gratification, something employers will have to account for as more of this generation enters the workplace, whether or not that workplace includes a playground.
