Arizona has taken a new approach to talking about HIV prevention.

The state’s new advertisements feature people doing every-day type activities, and then running into unforeseen dangers. The tagline: “It’s only dangerous if you don’t know it’s there.”

John Sapero is the office chief for the HIV prevention program at the Arizona Department of Health Services. He spoke about the effectiveness of the campaign and the thinking behind this new approach.
