Tempe Councilman Kolby Granville will ask the police and public works departments to designate a safe location for Internet sale exchanges.

The idea came after a resident approached Councilman Kolby Granville at a public event.

“Someone came up to me and said, ‘Hey, you know, I buy stuff on Craigslist and sell stuff online and it’s always kind of weird to meet someone in the parking lot of a grocery store,'" Granville said.

The resident asked Granville if the city could designate a place for transactions that is well-lit with video surveillance.

"It seemed super simple and it made perfect sense," said Granville. "And, frankly I was kind of surprised we weren't already doing it."

During Thursday afternoon's work study session, Granville will ask that the city designate and promote a safe place for exchanges.
