Above Normal, Near Record Temperatures In Arizona — El Niño Not Directly To Blame

An El Niño year is known for the rain it brings. However, dry conditions and near record high temperatures are in the forecast for the next week.

Mark O’Malley with the National Weather Service said it’s normal for there to be some fluctuation in weather patterns this time of year.

“The El Nino is still out there, it’s still strong, but we’re in this temporary respite where we’re stuck under this high pressure system with all this warm weather,” he said.

O’Malley said normal temperatures are in the mid 70s, but for the next week the whole state will be 10 to 15 degrees above normal.
