Students will return to Independence High School in Glendale on Tuesday for the first time since two of their classmates died last week in an apparent murder-suicide.

Social workers were available for students at the campus on Saturday. And Principal Rob Ambrose said everyone’s hearts were broken during a candlelight vigil held that night, according to a video posted to the Glendale Union High School District Facebook page.

When he spoke to the media on Friday, District Superintendent Brian Capistran said grief counseling would also be available Tuesday for anyone who needs it.

“Our focus is on our students, our faculty and our staff, ensuring that they have the appropriate support to get through this,” Capistran said.

Glendale police have said they found a suicide note near the bodies of the two tenth graders and they appeared to be in a relationship.
