The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report more than 25 countries with active Zika virus transmission and more than 80 travel-associated deaths from Zika so far in the United States.

Next week, scientists and scholars will gather in Washington D.C. to discuss potential technical solutions, like genetic engineering to deadly diseases, including Zika. Andrew Maynard, director of the Risk Innovation Lab at Arizona State University, is one of the panelists. He spoke about the situation.
