Tempe residents head to the polls Tuesday. They’ll be voting for new council members and a proposed amendment to the city’s charter.
Tempe’s Proposition 485 would limit campaign contributions made to candidates. The amendment was created to eliminate the potential for fraud in city elections. If approved, the amendment would take effect in the 2018 election cycle.
Three city council seats are also up for grabs. Six candidates are looking to fill those positions including two incumbents-– Kolby Granville and Joel Navarro.
Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell is also up for re-election. He is running un-opposed.
Following the election, the city will also have a new vice mayor as Corey Woods is not seeking re-election. His replacement will be chosen by the council after the members are sworn in, in July.
