Arizona lawmakers have sent Governor Doug Ducey a billthat would require the Arizona Board of Education to develop a menu of options from which districts could choose alternatives to the AZ Merit test. This was after the senate defeated a proposal to allow parents to opt their kids out of the assessment.
The Arizona School Boards Association is one of the groups in support of the bill that was ultimately approved. Heidi Vega is its director of communications. She spoke about the topic.
