The FBI agents involved in the traffic stop that led to the killing of an Arizona rancher in Oregon are under investigation. Robert “LaVoy” Finicum was a spokesman for the armed militants who occupied a wildlife sanctuary for more than a month earlier this year.
The investigation was launched by the U.S. Justice Department after it was determined the FBI agents did not disclose they fired shots during the confrontation.
Deschutes County Sheriff L. Shane Nelson said neither of those shots hit Finicum. Instead, authorities said Finicum was killed by rounds fired by Oregon State Police officers. All of those shots have been determined to be justified by the Malheur County District Attorney.
Still, Sheriff Nelson said it was of concern that FBI agents on the scene did not disclose they had also fired shots.
