The last of the inmates displaced after riots damaged a Kingman prison will be transferred back by the end of the month.

Damages from riots last summer at the privately run state prison led to more than 1,000 inmates being transferred to other prisons.

The Associated Press reported the final 360 displaced prisoners would be brought back to Kingman at the end of March.

Those prisoners were kept at the Pinal County jail since July. Apache, Navajo and Santa Cruz counties also temporarily housed inmates after the riots.

After repairs, all 3,400 cells in the affected unit are available.

After the riots and a report finding mismanagement with the former prison contractor, Gov. Doug Ducey canceled the state's contract with the prison's operator, Management and Training Corporation
