Arizona, California Not Far Apart On Sales Tax Rates

Arizona leaders spend a lot of time talking about how the state can lure businesses here, especially from California, based on our tax structure.

But new research from the Tax Foundation found Arizona’s combined state and average local sales tax rate is only slightly lower than California’s. Jared Walczak, a policy analyst at the Tax Foundation, explained how important sales taxes are to states.
