Phoenix Suns Moving D-League Squad To Prescott Valley

The Phoenix Suns are bringing their farm team closer to the Valley.

The NBA franchise announced Tuesday that its Developmental League squad will call the town of Prescott Valley home starting next year.

The team will be called the Northern Arizona Suns, and it will tip-off next season in the Prescott Valley Event Center, which is a decade old, $35-million multi-purpose arena with room for about 5,100 fans.

For the last two seasons, the Suns' D-League squad has played in California as the Bakersfield Jam. The move to Prescott Valley is part of the Suns’ deal to buy the Jam and take over business operations.

Prescott Valley will host at least 24 home games next year as the D-League expands to 22 teams.
