Public safety officials have rescued an 87-year-old woman reported missing on Sunday in a remote area in northwestern Arizona.
She reportedly walked away from her vehicle after it got stuck on a muddy road in an area known as the Arizona Strip near the Glen Canyon Dam.
Crews found the woman in critical condition about 10 miles from her car after conducting an aerial search on Tuesday. This is the second remote-desert rescue the Department of Public Safety has been involved in this week.
A 72-year-old woman was rescued from the White Mountains in eastern Arizona on April 9. Ann Rodgers said she survived nine days in the wilderness by drinking pond water and eating plants and a turtle. An aerial rescue team found her after spotting a "HELP" sign she fashioned out of sticks.
