Arizona Lawmakers Unlikely To Take Up Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform

It appears state legislators will not make any changes to Arizona’s civil asset forfeiture laws this year.

There were a few proposals introduced, including one that would have set up a study committee on the issue. J Cabou is a partner in the white collar and investigations group at the law firm Perkins Coie. He supports changes to the state’s system and spoke about the issue.

Arizona prosecutors generally opposed the bills that would have changed the state’s civil asset forfeiture laws. Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery spoke about why.
