News of Prince’s death yesterday came as a shock to his fans. Social media sites blew up after the pop icon’s passing — and so did demand for his music.
Eric Killion, who manages Zia Records in Chandler, said the store has been overwhelmed with demand.
“Since the news broke people have been clamoring, coming in, calling. It’s been non-stop effort of people trying to get Prince’s music,” he said.
Killion said copies of "Purple Rain," both the album and movie, were the hottest items. The demand was so high that Killion made an immediate order on new merchandise.
He said the store hopes to have more Prince music and merchandise in stock by Monday.
