Democracy Now is a daily news show that began 20 years ago on the Pacifica Network and now runs on more than 1,400 public television and radio stations around the country and around the world.
The program started broadcasting on just nine community radio stations in 1996 as the only public radio program devoting daily coverage to the 1996 presidential election.
Two decades later, host Amy Goodman talks about the lasting importance of independent media. Goodman spoke about the impact of Democracy Now in advance of several speaking engagements in Arizona.
