It’s been one month since Bell Road closed at Grand Avenue in Surprise.
Surprise police say in the month after Bell Road closed for overpass construction, there have been 68 accidents. The accidents led to several injuries and one death in and around the construction detour.
Most of those injuries occurred in the last two weeks, but the number of collisions declined last week.
In comparison, there were 60 accidents around Bell and Grand in March.
Surprise police officials say the additional collisions are not a cause for great concern, and will keep monitoring the detour.
Bell Road at Grand Avenue will be closed for the next six to eight months.
