How Conservative Or Liberal Is Your Town?

There are lots of ways to gauge how conservative or liberal your city or town is: voter registration and election results being two of them.

But a new analysis by the Silicon Valley start-up Crowdpaclooks at campaign contributions. The firm believes it's the best way to identify where a politician stands is to look at where they get their money.

The company built a database of more than 100 million public records, which allowed it to look at all donations across time on the local, state and federal levels.

It found most Valley cities are pretty close to the middle of the political spectrum.

Mason Harrison, Crowdpac’s political director, talked about the company.
