The Maricopa Community College District has a new chancellor. The governing board appointed Dr. Maria Harper-Marinick to lead the state’s largest community college system.
The appointment makes Harper-Marinick the first female and first Latina to be chancellor of a higher education institution in Arizona.
She’s spent nearly 25 years with the Maricopa Community Colleges and held several top level posts like executive vice chancellor and provost.
In her new post, Harper-Marinick will oversee college-wide operations in a system that serves about 200,000 students. She replaces Rufus Glasper, who recently retired.
