The KidsCare health care program is on track to be unfrozen. The Arizona Senate approved a bill Friday to do that and the House OK’d it Thursday, following some emotional debate.
Gov. Doug Ducey said Friday he would sign the measure.
The program is Arizona’s version of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or S-Chip, for low-income kids. It’s been frozen since 2010. Arizona is, until the governor signs this bill, the only state in the country without a program.
John Sciamanna, vice president of public policy for the Child Welfare League of America, talked about what people outside Arizona say about that.
