Cuban-born pianist Alfredo Rodriguez made the dramatic decision in 2009 to claim political asylum in the United States.
He crossed the border from Mexico while on a concert tour with his father. Since then, he’s worked with legendary producer Quincy Jones, who co-produced Rodriguez’ newest album "Tocororo."
We spoke with Rodriguez, who will be in the Valley for a performance at the Tempe Center for the Arts.
