How can cities contribute to their residents’ health? A conference today in Phoenix is exploring that question, and looking at the connection between community design and public health.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett is one of the speakers at the event being put on by Arizona Forward. He once put his city on a diet to bring awareness to obesity and is credited with making Oklahoma City more walkable and bikeable.

The event will also talk about those issues closer to home. Mesa Mayor John Giles in part of a statewide roundtable featuring mayors and city managers.
