It happens every winter. As accommodations at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park shut down, so does the 40-mile stretch of road between the remote part of the park and the tiny town of Jacob Lake.
Now State Route 67 is set to open Sunday, after being closed since December.
Along with the roadway, the lodge and visitor center at the North Rim will also reopen for the summer on Sunday.
The North Rim is about a four-hour drive from the South Rim. The North Rim is far less developed than the south, and receives only a small percentage of the park’s 5 million annual visitors.
