Kingman still wants its $1.1 million back, and now it’s demanding that its former auditing firm cough up the cash that was allegedly taken by a former city budget analyst.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office has accused Diane Richards of theft, forgery and misuse of city money between 2007 and 2015.

Last week, the Kingman city attorney sent a demand letter to Heinfeld, Meech & Co., P.C. It accuses the firm of negligence for failing to identify financial discrepancies and gives it until the end of May to pay back the money Richards allegedly stole.

Kingman officials have stopped short of saying they will sue the firm, but the letter warns that the city will take “all action necessary to recover its losses.”

Kingman has already filed an insurance claim to get some of the money back, and hopes to get more through restitution.
