Federal Court Won't Reconsider Decision To Allow Gaming At West Valley Casino

A federal court says they won’t be reconsidering a recent decision to allow the Tohono O’odham Nation to run a gaming operation on its land near Glendale.

This is the latest legal challenge against the Tohono O’odham nation’s West Valley Casino to be rejected.

In March the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that said the tribe did have the right to operate a casino on land they acquired on a county island near Glendale.

The West Valley Casino has been open for business since December. Patrons can play class II games right now, which includes bingo and non banking card games. The tribe hopes to run class III games, like slot machines and blackjack, but must settle a dispute with state regulators before that can happen.
