Sports Authority Now Closing All Stores

Sports Authority announced in a bankruptcy court this week it will close all 460 of its stores, including all 17 in Arizona.

Sports Authority filed for bankruptcy protection three months ago, and planned to close 140 of its stores, or about 30 percent of them. Now they are closing all 460 locations.

The sports retailer has already started discounting sneakers, clothing and other goods at some locations. It also plans to sell its store leases in an upcoming auction.

No word on the timing of the layoffs for its 14,500 employees.

A Sports Authority representative declined to comment.
