The State Of Prison Healthcare In Arizona

More than a year after a settlement was approved, the federal judge involved in Parsons v. Ryan has found that prisoners in the state still aren’t getting acceptable healthcare.

At the one-year mark, the Arizona Department of Corrections was supposed to be at 75 percent compliance with the agreement — which involved more than 100 health-care performance measures. However, a number of prisons aren’t reaching that level.

To learn more about prison healthcare, we spoke with Donna Leone Hamm, founder and executive director of Middle Ground Prison Reform, an advocacy organization.
