Law enforcement officers from across the country joined the public in Peoria on Thursday morning to honor the life of fallen Phoenix police Officer David Glasser.

Glasser was fatally shot last week while responding to a burglary call in Laveen.

A sea of blue uniforms flowed into Christ’s Church of the Valley where they listened to colleagues and friends talk about Glasser’s love of sports, his family and his community. They described him as a man of compassion.

"If you were Davie’s friend, you had a friend forever, because Davie valued people," said Jay Van Gelder, who was Glasser’s youth pastor.

The burial Thursday afternoon at Phoenix Memorial Park and Cemetery in north Phoenix followed a procession led by dozens of police motorcycles.

After the casket flag was folded and a priest offers words of prayer, a ceremonial last radio call for Glasser was announced over the speakers.

The Valley native worked at the Maryvale precinct and was a 12-year veteran of the force. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
