ADOT To Have Public Meetings Over Proposed Interstate 11 Freeway

Gov. Jan Brewer and John Halikowski
Arizona Department of Transportation
Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and ADOT Director John Halikowski unveiled Interstate 11 signs in 2014.

We’re at the beginning of a public comment period for a proposed freeway that would span from Nogales to Wickenburg. There will be six public meetings about Interstate 11 across the state in June.

That includes meetings in Casa Grande on June 8, Buckeye on  June 15 and Wickenburg on June 29. This marks the start of a three-year study on this section of the proposed I-11 freeway.

The meetings are a chance to discuss potential locations for the roadway, as well as possible environmental and cultural impacts. This section of I-11 would begin in Wickenburg, then run west of Phoenix and south to Tucson and Nogales. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the recommended I-11 corridor would eventually stretch to the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge.
