TSA Says Phoenix Sky Harbor Security Lines Will Be 'Adequately' Staffed This Weekend

Long security lines at most major airports have left fliers bracing for the worst, especially with the upcoming holiday weekend. Checkpoints at Sky Harbor should be adequately staffed...at least that’s what TSA is saying.

It’s hard to say what the security lines at Sky Harbor will look like this weekend. Needless to say, it might be good to tack on plenty of pad time, just in case. But Nico Melendez with TSA says the good news is that passengers at Sky Harbor haven’t had to endure excessively long lines like at other airports where wait times exceeded 90 minutes.

"In Phoenix we’ve been rather fortunate," said Melendez. "Passengers have not had to wait in very long lines. We’ve had some peak travel periods of 30 minutes at so, but we’re trying to get them through quickly."

While some passengers have had to wait longer than that, the average wait time nationally says Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnon is about 30 minutes, and 5 minutes for pre check lines.
