That drew an angry response from, among others, the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA), which said the reporting “failed to pass the test of accurate and ethical reporting,” and attempts to “legitimize a defined racial slur.”
We talked about it with Patty Talahongva. She’s a journalist and past president of NAJA — she’s also Hopi.
