Arizona State University Researcher: Universal Cancer Vaccine Is Possible

It’s kind of like the holy grail of medicine — not just a cure for cancer, but a vaccine to stop people from getting it in the first place. And, not just for one or even a few types of cancer, but all of them.

That’s exactly what Stephen Albert Johnston’s working on.

Johnston is the director of the Center for Innovations in Medicine in the BioDesign Institute at ASU, and he has done a safety trial for his universal cancer vaccine in dogs. He’s now working on getting a trial set up to see if it’d work under ideal circumstances.

Johnston talked about his research.
