All The World — Including Phoenix's Verde And Coronado Parks — Is A Stage

Birds chirp in the trees and kids ride by on skateboards at Phoenix's Verde Park on 9th and Van Buren streets in Phoenix’s Garfield Neighborhood.

Thursday and Friday the park will host Rising Youth Theater, in performances called “Under the Rug.”

The three plays will delve into “living room stories.” Each has two directors: one adult and one child.

To get a sense of what the shows are all about, we spoke with Matthew Mendez. He just finished his sophomore year at the Metropolitan Art Institute in Phoenix. We also talked to his co-director, Lilly Gomez, and Sarah Sullivan, one of Rising Youth Theater’s co-artistic directors.

Performances are Saturday and Sunday  in Phoenix’s Coronado Park.
