Fires will be banned until October at spots like Papago Park and Camelback Mountain.

The Tempe part of Papago Park is a popular area for people interested in hiking, jogging or walking the dog. Homeless residents have also been comfortable in the area, and that led to complaints about garbage piling up and unpleasant odors.

On Thursday, the city of Tempe took action by beginning a clean-up. We spoke with Tempe Councilman Kolby Granville about the effort.
